Teachers sent the Family Viewpoint online form in their Friday messages last week. Please ensure these forms are completed by tomorrow, Friday, September 11.
Demographic Forms - Due Monday
All families received an email from the Calgary Board of Education on September 2 - Subject: Action Required Complete online forms by Monday, September 14. Please ensure these forms have been completed. The school’s Alberta Government funding is dependent on their completion and accuracy. There are complete instructions in the email.
School Fees
2026-27 fees have not yet been posted to your MyCBE account. Any funds owing are a carry forward from last year. Please pay any outstanding fees as soon as possible.
Student Health Plans
A Student Health Plan (SHP) must be completed if:
- a physical or medical condition may affect the student’s attendance at school;
- medication is to be taken at school.
The SHP must be reviewed and updated annually or sooner if there is a change in the student’s health concern or school registration. All medications are kept securely in the office where they are easily accessible to staff and safe from misuse. If your child meets the above criteria, please ensure the Student Health Plan is completed ASAP and give it to your child's teacher.
Terry Fox Run - Friday, September 18
On Friday, September 18, Buffalo Rubbing Stone School will participate in the 46th annual Terry Fox Run! The support of parent volunteers with valid Police Information Checks is always deeply appreciated. If you are able to volunteer, you will be needed from 10:30 am until noon. Please contact our phys. ed. teacher, Ms. Gregory at chsiddle@cbe.ab.ca along with your child’s teacher.
Starting Monday, September 15, classes will begin collecting Toonies for Terry! This annual fundraiser, conducted by the Terry Fox Foundation, supports cancer research. Students are welcome to bring money to school. The teachers will collect it each day. Alternatively, families are welcome to donate online at https://schools.terryfox.ca/137582.
Open House / Meet the Teacher – Thursday, September 24
We are always excited to welcome students and parents/guardians to meet the teachers and get to know the school.
To accommodate all our families, the evening is divided into two parts:
5:30 – 6:15 Kindergarten, Grades 1 & 2
6:15 – 7:00 Grades 3-5
Students are expected to remain with and be supervised by their families at all times and are reminded of usual school expectations of walking in the halls, using indoor voices, putting away any learning materials they show their families, and leaving the classroom tidy for learning on Monday. Students are encouraged to take their families on a tour of the school, stop by the gym and the music room, and spend time in their classrooms with their teachers.
Whole School Field Trip to the Jubilee Auditorium – Tuesday, September 29
The performance at the Jubilee Auditorium is focussed on Alberta Arts and Culture. We encourage everyone to wear their traditional cultural celebratory clothing, if they choose. Field trip authorization forms will be sent home next week.
Provincial Screener Information
Beginning on Monday, all grades 1-5 students will participate in the Alberta Provincial Literacy and Numeracy Assessments. Results will be shared with parents/guardians in early November. For more information, please see Understanding Universal Screeners
Child and Youth Family and Caregiver Series
The Calgary Board of Education invites all parents and guardians to join a live online series focused on supporting child and youth well-being. The series is hosted by the Recovery Alberta Community Education Service (CES) Program in collaboration with local experts from the Calgary community. Sessions are designed to provide families with knowledge, tools, and strategies to help navigate the challenges and opportunities of raising children and teens today.
