Good morning Buffalo Rubbing Stone families,
Happy New Year!
Lost and Lost
We have set out the lost and found for students to peruse. If there is something you know is missing, please ask your child(ren) to look for it specifically. Along with the usual mitts, there are lots of hoodies and winter jackets! We are hoping these lost items will be found! On Friday, January 17, we will box the remaining lost items and donate them to charity.
Kindergarten Registration
Online kindergarten registration begins on Monday, January 13. All children born in 2020 are eligible for kindergarten in the 2025-26 school year. For more information and the registration links, please go to our school website at https://buffalorubbingstone.cbe.ab.ca/.
Grade 5 Students going to Captain Nichola Goddard in September
Grade 5 students at BRS are automatically enrolled at CNG for grade 6. There is no action required by parents.
Lacrosse Residency
Next week, Elev8 Lacrosse will join us for phys. ed. instruction to introduce our students to the game. Thank you to the Calgary Knights Lacrosse Association for sponsoring two days of the residency and to the Buffalo Rubbing Stone Parent Association for providing the funding for the rest of the week. There is no cost to students for this special opportunity.
BRS School Council & Parent Association Meetings – Tuesday, January 14 6:00 – 7:30 pm
Please join us online for the BRSSC & PA Meetings Join the meeting now
Highlights of the meeting include reports from our kindergarten, phys. ed., and music teachers; information about upcoming school events, and a preview of the January report cards.
Ice
Throughout the fall, winter, and spring, the snow presents a challenge. Our facility operator works hard to keep the snow cleared from the main entrances and our staff all work hard to identify slippery spaces with pylons. We encourage everyone to “walk like a penguin” and always make careful decisions about where to walk. As you know, students are outside everyday for recess, lunch, and learning tasks. Being safe in changing weather conditions is something we all need to focus on so we can enjoy the outdoors in every season.
Take good care,
Allison
