The updates for this week are:

Demographic Forms  

If you have not yet completed your demographic verification form; it is overdue.  Please complete it today. 

Open House / Meet the Teacher – Tonight! 

We are looking forward to seeing everyone this evening. 

  • 5:30 – 6:15 Kindergarten, Grades 1 & 2 teachers will be in their classrooms                                                       
  • 6:15 – 7:00 Grades 3-5 teachers will be in their classrooms 
  • 5:50 – 6:35 Mr. T, Mrs. Gregory, and Mr. McEachern will be in the music room and the gym 

Students:  

  • You are expected to remain with your parents and be supervised by your parents throughout the evening. 
  • Please show your parents your visual journals and assignments – return everything to their rightful places. 
  • Please show your parents the posted art. 
  • Please take your parents to the gym and music rooms. 
  • Ensure you leave your classroom tidy and ready for learning Monday morning. 

Parents, you might ask your children the following questions: 

  • What are you most proud of so far this year? 
  • What are you working to improve? 

Orange Shirt Day – Monday, September 29 

Orange Shirt Day is an important day in our journey of Truth and Reconciliation.  Everyone is encouraged to wear orange shirts and consider how we might each better respect one another to build a stronger Canada.  

Whole School Field Trip to the Jubilee Auditorium – Tuesday, September 29 

Thank you to everyone who has returned their Jubilee field trip forms.  There are only a very few left to come in. Remember, everyone will be going on this field trip!!  It's going to be a great day!  The Jubilee is a classic theatre.  Students are encouraged to wear their cultural or favourite clothes. 

BRS School Council and Parent Association Meetings – Thursday, October 1 

Please join us at school on Thursday, October 1 at 6:30 pm for the first BRS School Council and Parent Association Meetings of the 2026-27 school year.  These meetings are an important way for parents to connect with school administrators and share the important home school partnership in a more formal way.  It is also at these meetings where we determine the important enhancements the parents are committed to supporting over the course of the school year.  Look for the agenda on our BRS website - Get Involved tab.  Your voice is valued!  Please join us! 

No Toys at School 

"Toys or games frequently get lost or broken and are often a distraction from learning; they need to be left at home."   This expectation is posted on the BRS website - Personal Belongings tab.  Please check with your child to ensure that personal items are remaining at home. 

Lunch Reminder 

At BRS, we have a boomerang lunch program.  That means that anything that comes to school goes back home.  We do not have utensils at school.  It is important that children bring their own. 

Cultural Celebrations 

BRS is a diversity learning community.  We do our best to recognize important cultural observances in our calendar and to learn about what is important to our families.  To our families with recently past or upcoming celebrations: We hope you had a meaningful Yom Kippur, Chuseok jal bonaeseyo, and May the moon bring you peace and joy!
